There are some slight blemishes to the cover and some of the pages. There a small tear to one of the pages (see pics) and a pencil name on the inside cover but these do not affect the overall presentation and condition of the book. The book is 'dedicated to the young officers and men who have come forward in their country's defence'. It is divided in to six sections each of which is subdivided into further chapters. Thes ections are The Making Of An Army, Courage, Common-Sense, Cunning, Cheerfulness and How To Carry Out Training.
